Its never dull watching a lower league team.

So here we are again, a new blog from me to you about more meaningless things (unless in this case you happen to support Reading FC)

A couple of rare things happened to me on Saturday.

1) I saw my football team play
2) They actually won!!! (Only the second time I have seen them win live since middle of Jan 2009!)

As you may or may not already know I support Reading Football Club and yes the abuse I get I can take (you know who you are who give it out). Anyway here follows my brief match report of the game

Doncaster Rovers 1 - 2 Reading FC

A rather cheap day out watching football. £9 return on the train to Donny and only £17 for a student ticket. Arrived at the stadium, nice little ground actually, probably about half the size of the Madejski stadium with very similar facilities. Standing at football is so much better somehow so I joined some people at the back for the game which was fun.

The opening 30 minutes were not great. Donny had all the play and it looked like we just hadn't started. But then out of nothing we score. Shane Long with his 2nd goal in 2 games and 3rd of the season, nice header. After this we take control of the match, restricting Donny to long shots and forcing them to make mistakes.

Half Time - good 1st half performance, but can we keep it going and record our first back to back wins in the league this season?

We started the second half as we ended the first, creating some good opportunities and restricting Donny to some difficult chances, which they failed to take. I really wanted a second goal because having watched Reading for as longs as I have you know that a 1-0 lead never ever feels like enough! So we scored a 2nd goal. Excellent team goal, good passing good movement, its what we have been trying to do all year and Brian Howard finishes the move off with a nice finish through the legs of the defender and pass the keeper ..... cue massive celebrations in the away end. With 10 minutes to go we looked home and dry but that was never going to be the case really. Penalty to Donny and Matt Mills gets sent off for us, which is a shame because he was having a good game. Donny make it 2-1 and are all over us in the last 10 minutes, hitting the bar and forcing Adam Federici into making some great saves to keep us in the game. Ref added 6 minutes which was a joke but I was so glad to hear that final whistle and get the 3 points we deserved.

Great performance from the team and we look ahead to tonights clash with Plymouth who are in a similar position to ourselves. Its a must win tonight and I have every faith that we can do something to get us out of this mess, plus they are part of my accumulator! Would also like to see wins for Fulham, Sunderland, Notts County, Notts Forest, Birmingham (who play tomorrow) and a draw between QPR and Ipswich ..... could win me a nice £146 :)

So that about it from me today.

Ciao for now
